Cómo producir el sonido: los labios y la man-
díbula se mantienen levemente abiertos. La
parte trasera de la lengua cierra casi comple-
tamente la salida del aire.
En comparación con el español: equivale
aproximadamente a una /j/ suave del español
que se pronuncia como una simple aspiración;
pero no tiene equivalente exacto en español
(seguir las instrucciones anteriores sobre
cómo producirla).
Diferente ortografía con el mismo sonido:
“h”: casi siempre se pronuncia /h/; “wh”: who,
whom, whose, whole, white, while. Pero no
se pronuncia después de “k”, “g” o “r”: ghost,
khaki, rhomboid; ni en las palabras: honor,
heir, honest, hour; ni tampoco en “gh”: bough,
through, plough, sight.

Cómo producir el sonido: se empuja
la parte frontal de la lengua hacia la parte
superior de la boca por detrás de los dientes
superiores sin llegar realmente a tocarlos.
Las cuerdas vocales sí vibran al producir este
sonido.
En comparación con el español: no existe
equivalente en español. Es similar a la /r/ del
español pero la lengua tiene mucha más
vibración (seguir las instrucciones anteriores
sobre cómo producirla).

“r”: siempre se pronuncia /r/; “rr”: merry, sorry,
